Claude Design Integrates Design Systems and Connects to Adobe
Anthropic is rolling out an update for Claude Design, its visual creation tool powered by AI, which was launched in preview in April 2026. The update includes: importing design systems, integration with Claude Code, a revamped editor, and new connectors to third-party platforms. Here’s the overview!
New Capabilities in Claude Design to Adhere to Your Brand Guidelines
The Design System as a Starting Point
This is the central novelty of this update. Claude Design can now import one or more design systems from a GitHub repository, design files, or resources uploaded directly. The tool then builds interfaces based on existing components, checks that its output adheres to the design system, and makes corrections before presenting the result. For teams, a new administrator role allows for the validation and locking of a unique design system at the organizational level, ensuring that every project remains compliant with brand standards.
Streamlined Interactions with Claude Code
Anthropic tightens the integration between Claude Design and Claude Code. The /design-sync command allows for the direct import of the design system from a local codebase, ensuring that outputs from Claude Design start from components already in place within projects. Once the design is ready, the transfer to Claude Code occurs without starting from scratch: the coding agent picks up where Claude Design left off, without needing screenshots. Notably, the reverse is also possible. Developers can create, edit, and synchronize design projects without leaving the terminal, using the /design command.
Other New Features in the Claude Design Update
Anthropic has announced additional features. The tool now includes new controls to:
- move
- resize
- align elements directly on the canvas.
Stability fixes have been implemented, and Claude Design now shares its usage limits with chat, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. This means that most users will have more leeway, with generation errors significantly reduced. Finally, export options have expanded. In addition to PDF and PowerPoint formats, Claude Design now connects to Adobe, Base44, Canva, Gamma, Lovable, Miro, Replit, Vercel, and Wix.
What This Update Means for Designers
The support for design systems addresses one of the most frequently cited limitations since the launch of Claude Design in preview. The tool's outputs often deviated from existing brand guidelines, making deliverables difficult to reuse as is. Importing from GitHub or design files reduces this gap, bringing Claude Design closer to real professional use, especially for teams working with standardized components.
The bridge to Claude Code also changes the game for design-to-dev workflows: where transfers previously required a screenshot or manual recreation, it is now possible to switch from one tool to another while maintaining project context.
Access and Availability of Claude Design
As a reminder, Claude Design is available in beta on the Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, at no additional cost. These new features are being rolled out across all these plans. The tool can be accessed at claude.ai/design or from the sidebar of the Claude desktop application. On the Enterprise plans, it remains disabled by default and must be activated by an administrator in the organization’s settings.
