Adobe Firefly Introduces Custom Models for Creators
Adobe has recently unveiled a major innovation in the realm of digital creation with its Firefly Custom Models. These custom models allow Firefly users to import their own images, which are then analyzed to create a unique model that reflects their visual style. This model becomes a valuable resource, reusable across various projects, briefs, and campaigns, thus providing aesthetic continuity.
The custom models offered by Adobe fall into three main categories:
- Illustration Styles: Here, the focus is on elements such as stroke thickness, color blocks, and color consistency, which are essential for maintaining a strong visual identity.
- Characters: This category aims to ensure that character traits remain consistent from one scene to another, a significant advantage for narrative or branding projects.
- Photographic Styles: Users can replicate a specific visual rendering across a series of images, ensuring uniformity in photographic productions.
Aspects such as the color palette, lighting, and character traits are carefully preserved from one generation to the next, ensuring fidelity to the original style.
Privacy and Ownership of Models
A crucial point of this innovation is the privacy of the models. By default, these models are private, and the images used for their training are not incorporated into the general Firefly models. Furthermore, the generated content is entirely owned by the user, thus ensuring the protection of intellectual property. Initially presented in private beta during the Adobe MAX 2025 event, these custom models are now accessible to all users.
Once a model is trained, it seamlessly integrates into the user's workflow. This allows for the generation of new ideas in line with personal aesthetics, the reuse of the model across different projects, and large-scale production without compromising visual identity. For teams producing large amounts of content, this visual consistency represents a significant competitive advantage.
Access to Over 30 New Third-Party Models
In addition to custom models, Adobe Firefly has expanded its offerings with the addition of over 30 reference models from various partners. Among these are models like Nano Banana 2 and Veo 3.1 from Google, Gen-4.5 from Runway, Kling 2.5 Turbo, and Adobe's Firefly Image Model 5. These models are now available to all users, allowing for greater flexibility in creation. The idea is to generate an image with one model, refine it with another, and then continue editing in Adobe tools, all from a unified interface.
The Conversational Interface Moonlight
Alongside these advancements, Adobe has also introduced the Moonlight project. This conversational and agentic interface allows users to describe their creative intentions in natural language. The Moonlight agents then execute the necessary actions in applications like Photoshop and Lightroom. Although this feature is still in private beta, Adobe plans to gradually expand its access, promising a new way to interact with creative tools.
