Until now, ChatGPT held a privileged position on Apple platforms, but this exclusivity may soon come to an end. In 2026, with the launch of iOS 27, Siri could open up to a variety of AI services, marking a significant turning point in Apple's strategy.

This initiative aims to transform Siri, which has long been criticized for its limitations, into a more versatile and adaptable assistant. By allowing the integration of various AI services, Apple could align Siri with the standards of modern chatbots, thus providing an enriched user experience.

An Extension System for Seamless Integration

Apple is reportedly developing an innovative system called "Extensions," designed to connect Siri to third-party artificial intelligences. Through this system, AI applications like Claude could be integrated directly into the voice assistant, complementing the technologies already used by Apple.

This approach would allow Apple to avoid entering into exclusive partnerships, giving users the freedom to choose the AI services they wish to use. A new dedicated section in the App Store would facilitate this selection. This evolution follows the integration of ChatGPT with iOS 18 but proposes a more open and modular approach. Currently, Apple Intelligence automatically calls on ChatGPT when Siri fails to respond to a request. With this new system, Siri would become agnostic, leaving the final choice to the user.
