Google Vids, the video editing application integrated into Google Workspace since 2024, continues to evolve with a series of new features that will delight content creators. Used by over 2.5 million people, the app has been accessible for free via Google Drive since 2025 and can be used on any browser.
Improvements to AI Avatars
Among the new features, Google has announced significant enhancements for AI avatars, which have been available on the platform since the previous year. Thanks to Nano Banana 2, users can now customize these avatars according to their branding. This customization involves the use of prompts or guided forms. Users can choose from seven different voices and adjust various elements such as backgrounds, hats, and glasses. The avatars can also be integrated into different scenes and interact smoothly and coherently with objects, using up to two reference images to enhance the backgrounds. This feature, currently available in English, is intended for paying subscribers, including Business, Enterprise, Essentials, Education profiles, and more. It is particularly useful for businesses or trainers.
New Export Options
In addition to AI avatars, Google has introduced Google Vids Screen Recorder, a free extension for Chrome. This extension allows users to record their screen from any browser tab, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes. The recordings can then be edited and shared directly within Google Vids. This feature is accessible to Google Workspace customers as well as users with a personal Google account.
Another major new feature is the ability to publish a video created in Google Vids directly to YouTube. Previously, users had to manually export an MP4 file to upload it to the platform. Now, exported videos will be private by default, and it will be up to the user to decide to make them public. This feature will be available for all Workspace customers and personal Google accounts, with deployment expected by mid-April.
These innovations promise to significantly enhance the user experience of Google Vids, making it easier to create and share video content.
