The startup Cigno recently raised €1.5 million to develop an artificial intelligence platform specifically designed for management consulting firms. This initiative aims to transform the internal methodologies of firms into automated workflows capable of generating deliverables in just a few minutes.
Cigno draws inspiration from other sectors that have adopted vertical AIs, such as doctors with Nabla and Abridge, or legal professionals with Harvey and Legora. The fundraising was supported by influential business angels, including Lino Finini, former Group COO of Swissquote, and Hazem Mulhim, founder and CEO of Eastnets.
A Tailored AI for Consulting
Philippe Reynier, co-founder and CEO of Cigno, emphasizes that generic AI models do not meet the specific requirements of the consulting sector. According to him, the value lies in the contextualization of data and the ability to encode a firm's proprietary methodology. Generalist tools often fail to produce quality deliverables, securely integrate data, and generate consistent results.
Customized and Secure Workflows
Cigno's platform offers a vertical infrastructure that supports consultants from research to the production of the final deliverable. It orchestrates hundreds of specialized agents to create deliverables that align 70% with the visual and methodological standards of firms. Data security is ensured by an architecture hosted at Scaleway, with an anonymized "chunking" approach for the use of external models.
Collaboration and Development
Prior to this fundraising, Cigno organized co-design workshops with leaders of firms and independent consultants to create a product that aligns with market needs. The Cigno team, consisting of ten people, includes Philippe Reynier, Nicolas Lagrèze, and Vahan Avetisyan, who bring rich experience in consulting and AI technologies.
Pilot projects are currently underway in France, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, as Cigno prepares to commercialize its solution. The goal is to continue evolving the product to deliver a "wow" effect with each launch, according to Philippe Reynier.
