Gemini Enhances Gmail with AI Tools for Premium Subscribers

A few months after Apple integrated its artificial intelligence into the Mail app on iOS and macOS, it's now Google's turn to evolve Gmail with the arrival of Gemini. However, this new feature is not yet accessible to all users.

Google has launched the AI Inbox feature in Gmail, but only for subscribers of the Gemini AI Plus and Pro plans. This update aims to optimize inbox organization and reduce the time spent managing emails.

New Features of AI Inbox in Gmail

The new user experience revolves around three main features:

• Automatic Draft Generation: Gemini analyzes the content of received emails and suggests contextual responses ready to be sent, which the user can modify as needed.

• Display of Google Drive Files: Documents from Google Drive, such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides, now appear directly in the inbox alongside associated tasks, eliminating the need to search for them manually.

• Simplified Task Management: Users can mark an item as completed, ignore a suggestion, or delete an entire topic with just one click.

Advanced Functions for Optimized Use

In addition to AI Inbox, Google highlights several other features offered by Gemini in Gmail:

• A "summarize this email" button allows for quick synthesis of long discussion threads.

• The application's sidebar enables users to make complex requests, such as comparing offers from multiple emails or finding a reservation number without having to sift through numerous messages.

Gemini can also be called upon to find an email, suggest a response, or summarize lengthy content.

In terms of writing, the "help me write" feature allows for the generation of a complete draft from a simple instruction. Gemini also ensures grammar and spelling corrections and can draw on data from Google Drive files to formulate responses.

Who Can Benefit?

These new features are currently reserved for subscribers of the AI Plus and Pro plans of Gmail. Google has not yet specified whether these innovations will be extended to other plans in the future.
