Google Gemini: the AI assistant is set to anticipate your needs
Google is about to take a new step in the evolution of its AI assistant, Gemini. A novel feature, dubbed "Proactive Assistance," was discovered by the Android Authority team while analyzing version 17.18.22.sa.arm64 of the app. The team was able to activate this feature in the tool's settings for a closer look. This innovation promises to make Gemini even more proactive by suggesting actions before the user even requests them.
Proactive assistance through contextual analysis
The new feature will enable Gemini to provide real-time suggestions based on several elements: the content displayed on the screen, the notifications received, and the applications that the user has authorized. Thus, the assistant could send reminders, provide relevant information, or initiate contextual actions. Currently, only the Contacts and Messages services are compatible, but a section titled "Applications Personal Intelligence" mentions other Google tools like Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar.
Privacy and local data processing
The introduction of this feature raises concerns regarding privacy. Google has clarified that the data will be processed locally in a secure and encrypted environment, without human intervention or use for AI training. The line between utility and intrusiveness is thin. Although the official launch date has not yet been announced, the feature appears ready to be deployed, likely first in the United States. Its compatibility with European standards remains to be confirmed.
