Google is developing an artificial intelligence agent named Remy, which could represent its response to OpenClaw. According to an internal document, Remy is described as a "24/7 personal agent" capable of acting on behalf of the user, and it is currently being tested by the company's employees.
This AI agent is integrated into Google's Gemini app, where it is being tested in a staff-only version. Remy can integrate with several other Google services, making it potentially more advanced than current tools. In some respects, Remy resembles OpenClaw, an AI agent that became a viral sensation earlier this year.
The development of AI agents is a major area of interest for AI labs, and Google is no exception. Although the company does not yet have a fully autonomous AI agent product available to the general public, it has begun rolling out features like the "Agent Mode," which allows for multi-step task execution.
Remy stands out for its ability to monitor important items for the user, manage complex tasks proactively, and learn user preferences over time. However, there is still no timeline for the public launch of Remy. The project is currently in the "dogfooding" phase, a practice where employees test products before their official launch.
Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis has long discussed his vision of building a digital assistant. Google will hold its I/O event later this month, where AI agents are expected to be a central focus of the announcements.
