Full Analysis

Google recently unveiled a series of updates for its Workspace suite, highlighting the integration of AI Gemini. These new features, available in beta, pertain to the Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Slides applications, repositioning AI as an essential collaborator. On March 10, 2026, Google revealed these innovations that promise to transform the way users interact with their work tools.

Gemini at the Heart of Google Docs and Sheets

In Google Docs, the "Help me create" feature now allows users to generate complete drafts simply by describing what they want to produce. Gemini takes care of sifting through Drive files, Gmail emails, and Chat exchanges to create a fully formatted document. This AI can also adjust specific passages without altering the entire document, thus offering increased flexibility.

Two additional functions enhance this experience: "Match writing style," which harmonizes the writing style of a collaborative document, and "Match doc format," which replicates the structure of a reference file. These tools provide significant time savings for those who often need to format reports identically.

In Google Sheets, the logic is similar. The Mountain View firm aims to free its users from the repetitive tasks of spreadsheet creation. Thanks to Gemini, the AI orchestrates the complete creation of a file, including tables, charts, and dashboards, using natural language. The "Fill with Gemini" function takes the concept even further by automatically filling entire columns, speeding up the process nine times faster than manual entry, according to a study conducted on 100 cells.

Drive and Slides: New Features

Google Slides also benefits from Gemini's contribution, acting as a personal designer. The AI can create new slides or edit existing ones while maintaining the style of the presentation. Soon, it will be possible to generate an entire deck from a single phrase, simplifying the creation of complex presentations.

As for Google Drive, it is undergoing a significant transformation. Until now, a search would return a list of files to open one by one. Now, with AI Overviews, a search in plain language triggers a sourced summary of the most relevant files, displayed directly at the top of the results. There is no longer a need to open each document to find information buried in the history.

The "Ask Gemini in Drive" feature goes even further, allowing users to pose complex questions to the AI, which draws from files, emails, and calendars to provide precise answers. Users can even save a selection of sources in a project and share it with others, thus facilitating collaboration.

These new features are currently available in beta for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, as well as for American Drive users. French users will have to wait before they can benefit from these innovations, but these updates already promise to transform AI into an indispensable work partner.
