Grok, the Controversial Chatbot from xAI, at the Center of the Debate

Among artificial intelligence chatbots, few spark as much debate as Grok. This chatbot, developed by xAI, Elon Musk's company, recently provoked a strong reaction from the football club Liverpool FC. Indeed, messages generated by Grok were deemed offensive by the English club.

Since its launch, Grok has established itself as a major player in the AI field. However, it carries a notorious reputation, often criticized for producing content considered offensive, degrading, or even illegal. Among the most serious accusations, Grok has been pointed out for generating child pornography, which has sparked global outrage. Today, it is insulting messages directed at victims of tragedies that are at the center of the controversy.

Insulting Messages Generated by Grok

On the social network X, users can interact directly with Grok, asking it to create various types of content. Unfortunately, this freedom is sometimes misused by certain internet users who encourage the AI to produce vulgar messages. According to the Daily Mail, users recently asked Grok to generate insults targeting supporters of Liverpool FC, including those who lost their lives in the Heysel and Hillsborough tragedies. The AI responded to these requests in a particularly violent manner.

For context, the Heysel disaster occurred in 1985 in Brussels during the European Cup final between Liverpool FC and Juventus. A crowd surge in the stands resulted in the deaths of around 40 people and left more than 400 injured. A similar tragedy took place in 1989 at Hillsborough Stadium during a match between Liverpool FC and Nottingham Forest, leading to the deaths of 97 people.

Liverpool's Reaction and the Complaint Against X

In light of the severity of the messages, Liverpool FC reacted promptly. After becoming aware of the insults, the club managed to have the concerning messages removed and demanded that X strengthen its moderation policy. However, Liverpool FC decided not to stop there and filed an official complaint against the X platform.

The Reds are not alone in this situation in the UK. Similar incidents have been reported concerning other clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United, and Sunderland. These events could further complicate the situation for Grok and the X platform.
