Nexus Luxembourg: An Unmissable Event for European Tech

On June 10 and 11, 2026, Luxembourg will host a major event for the European tech sector: Nexus Luxembourg. This gathering aims to bring together 10,000 visitors and 250 startups competing around key themes such as artificial intelligence, digital sovereignty, cybersecurity, quantum, and fintech. With the participation of influential figures from European tech, Nexus Luxembourg is establishing itself as a strategic hub for innovation on the continent.

In a context where artificial intelligence is disrupting the economic and organizational models of businesses, platforms for discussion and decision-making are becoming crucial. Nexus Luxembourg is precisely positioned in this niche, offering a space for dialogue and reflection on the major technological, economic, and geopolitical questions shaping the European tech ecosystem.

For this third edition, the organizers have structured the event around four distinct spaces:

  • Intelligence Forum: dedicated to applied AI, automation, cybersecurity, sovereignty, and productivity technologies.
  • Luxembourg Makes It Happen Pavilion: a space showcasing national innovation, featuring international guests and AI pioneers.
  • Fintech Sphere: focused on the future of finance and digital transformation.
  • Launchpad Arena: dedicated to the Startups & Scaleups Awards, with 12 categories to designate a grand winner.

“Luxembourg is one of the fastest-growing tech ecosystems in Europe,” says Laurent Futin, General Director of Nexus Luxembourg. By already announcing the dates for the 2027 edition on March 9 and 10, the event aims to provide long-term visibility to its partners and participants, thereby stimulating innovation in Europe.

An Event Designed for European Decision-Makers

With an expected attendance of 10,000 visitors from 50 countries, Nexus Luxembourg intends to go beyond the simple framework of a tech fair. The event stands out for its human-scale experience, the quality of the presentations, and the diversity of topics covered, ranging from artificial intelligence to cloud infrastructures, as well as fintech, sovereignty, digital health, and cybersecurity.

Among the renowned speakers are Octave Klaba, founder of OVHcloud, Dr. Eva-Maria Hempe from Nvidia, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder of Paytm, and Ayumi Moore Aoki, founder of Women in Tech Global. Ayumi Moore Aoki emphasizes the importance of tech diplomacy, an emerging discipline that is becoming essential as technology and geopolitics increasingly intertwine.

This approach reflects the ambition of Nexus Luxembourg: to offer an event where AI is addressed not only from the perspective of usage but also as a strategic issue of competitiveness and independence for European players.

European Voices Addressing AI Head-On

The 2026 edition will also highlight several European entrepreneurs whose journeys provide varied perspectives on technology. Among them is Fabien Pinckaers, founder and CEO of Odoo, valued at nearly $10 billion. When presenting his company, he prefers to emphasize user satisfaction compared to competitors like SAP, due to the simplicity and accessibility of his solutions for SMEs.

Pinckaers believes that American software solutions have failed to conquer the SME market due to their complexity and high costs. He aims to make Odoo one of the two or three remaining global players in this market. Regarding generative AI, he remains cautious, favoring useful and proven applications over flashy innovations that lack robustness.

VLC: A Symbol of European Technological Sovereignty

Nexus Luxembourg will also welcome Jean-Baptiste Kempf, president and lead developer of VLC, a free and open-source software used by hundreds of millions of people. The small orange cone of VLC has become a symbol of European technological independence. Kempf recounts that VLC started as a student project at Centrale Paris in the 1990s, aimed at streaming and playing videos over the campus network. In 2001, the opening of the source code allowed the community to take ownership and improve the software, propelling it to global scale.

VLC media player remains free, ad-free, and without data collection, primarily relying on user donations. Kempf has turned down “eight-figure” buyout offers and founded Videolabs, which develops video solutions for businesses. As CTO of Scaleway, he emphasizes the importance of European sovereignty, noting that Europe is making progress, albeit slowly, toward credible alternatives to tech giants. The rise of artificial intelligence offers new opportunities to catch up on the accumulated lag.
