Google Search Live Expands to 200 Countries with Multilingual Capabilities
Google has recently announced a significant expansion of its AI search assistant, Search Live, now accessible in over 200 countries and territories. This feature allows users to search for information using their voice and camera, and it is now available in dozens of additional languages.
Initially launched in the United States last September, Search Live enables users to point their phone's camera at an object and ask questions aloud, such as how to install a shelf. The AI assistant then responds with an audio answer, accompanied by links to relevant information found on the web.
This global expansion is made possible by Google's new AI model, Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, which is described as "intrinsically multilingual." This model offers notable improvements in response speed and provides more natural and intuitive interactions.
To try Search Live, simply open the Google app on an Android or iOS device and tap the "Live" button under the search bar. This feature can also be accessed via Google Lens.
In parallel, Google has also rolled out an update for its Translate app on iOS, now enabling real-time translation. iPhone users can capture speech in real time and hear the translation directly in their headphones. This feature is now available in several regions, including Germany, Spain, France, Nigeria, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Bangladesh, and Thailand.
