The American startup Polsia, specializing in automating business operations through artificial intelligence, has just completed a $30 million funding round. Founded by Ben Sera, known for co-founding Future Foods with Travis Kalanick, Polsia stands out for its employee-less operation, orchestrated solely by AI agents.
With an annual revenue nearing $10 million, Polsia has managed to attract the attention of prestigious venture capital funds such as Sound Ventures, True Ventures, Offline Ventures, Adjacent, Tekton Ventures, and Vaynerfund. The startup boasts an impressive valuation of $250 million and aims to enable a single person to manage a business through massive automation of business processes.
Polsia utilizes its AI agents for a variety of tasks, ranging from software development to business prospecting, as well as paid advertising, research, customer support, and workflow management. The initial idea behind Polsia was based on the question of what proportion of a company's software can operate without human intervention, with the answer being "most of it." Ben Sera claims that these agents even actively participated in the fundraising, managing the creation of the data room, investor presentations, and certain stages of due diligence.
However, Polsia's business model raises questions. On platforms like Reddit, users express skepticism about the ability of a company without employees to generate substantial revenue while ensuring critical functions. The company's name, Polsia, which is "aislop" spelled backward, also fuels debates, with some viewing it as a marketing provocation.
Despite these criticisms, Polsia embodies a bold vision of AI-augmented business, where traditional barriers related to hiring and initial capital could be significantly reduced, as noted by True Ventures. However, the issues of governance, accountability for decisions made by AI agents, and the reliability of automated processes remain central as these technologies gain autonomy.
