Meta Surprises with a New AI Gaming App
Meta, the tech giant led by Mark Zuckerberg, has caught everyone off guard by launching a new mobile application called Pocket. This app, which relies on artificial intelligence, specializes in creating mini-games, an area where Meta is striving to stand out. Although the company has integrated AI into various products like its social media platforms and smart glasses, it is still struggling to establish itself in this sector, even among its own teams. Nevertheless, Meta continues to explore this avenue with the launch of Pocket, an intriguing app that appeared without warning.
A Quiet Launch for Pocket
In contrast to its usual practices, Meta chose not to make a fuss about this new application. On June 29, Pocket was quietly made available on iOS and Android platforms. This app presents itself as a vibe-coding tool, designed for creative users who want to generate mini-games using AI. Developer Alessandro Paluzzi discovered the app and shared his find on the platform X, accompanied by screenshots. By analyzing the app's code, it was revealed that it is linked to Gizmo, an AI startup that Meta acquired last March.
Pocket and Vibe-Coding: A New Era of Creation
The integration of the Gizmo team into Meta's Superintelligence Labs marks an important milestone for the company. Gizmo had already made a name for itself in the vibe-coding space, with over 635,000 downloads and an impressive rating of 98% according to the firm AppFigures. Pocket follows in this lineage, offering a platform where users can create playful experiences by writing prompts. The app's technical sheet makes several references to "gizmos," and a section allows users to discover creations from others.
A Persistent Mystery Surrounding Pocket
Despite the interest generated by Pocket, Meta remains silent on the details of this application. When asked by TechCrunch, the company has yet to provide any comments on this launch. Furthermore, the app is not yet accessible everywhere, even in the United States, where it remains difficult to obtain. Users will therefore have to wait to fully discover what Pocket has to offer.
