Nothing Introduces Essential Voice, an AI Dictation Tool
AI-powered dictation tools have seen a growing popularity in recent years. Among the applications already available on the market, such as Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, Willow, and Monologue, a new player has just entered the scene. On Thursday, the hardware company Nothing unveiled its own dictation tool, named Essential Voice.
Innovative Features of Essential Voice
Essential Voice stands out for its ability to function within any application, transforming speech into formatted text while eliminating filler words like "um" and "ah." Users can also create custom voice shortcuts for frequently used words, links, or phrases. For example, the shortcut "my address" can be set up to automatically insert a complete address.
Availability and Compatibility
Currently, Essential Voice is available on the Phone (3). A rollout on the Phone (4a) Pro is planned for later this month, with support for the Phone (4a) expected next month. This feature allows dictation at speeds up to four times faster than the average typing speed of 36 words per minute on a phone.
Access and Integration
To use Essential Voice, users can press the Essential key on compatible devices or activate it via the keyboard. This feature is reminiscent of Superwhisper, which recently introduced a similar option for iPhone users.
Translation and Customization
In addition to dictation, Essential Voice offers the ability to translate text between over 100 languages. In the future, Nothing plans to introduce a custom style based on applications, allowing users to modify the tone of AI editing according to application categories, such as work or messaging.
A Step Forward in System Integration
Nothing positions itself as one of the first companies to offer system-level integration for dictation. With Google's recent release of its offline dictation app, it is likely that other companies will follow this trend by launching similar tools.
