Companies are looking to automate their infrastructures using artificial intelligence, but often encounter a major obstacle: the dispersion of IT data. The French startup OpsMill is positioning itself to become the central pillar of these AI systems.
A Challenge of Dispersed Data
Artificial intelligence is gradually infiltrating the back offices of large companies, impacting sectors such as IT networks, data centers, cybersecurity, and maintenance. However, one problem persists: data quality. In many organizations, technical information is scattered across various tools that do not communicate effectively with each other, thus limiting the AI's visibility into the infrastructures they need to manage.
The Solution Proposed by OpsMill
OpsMill, a Paris-based startup, recently announced a €12 million Series A funding round. This financing was led by the investment fund IRIS, with participation from Benhamou Global Ventures (BGV), Serena, and Partech. According to Damien Garros, co-founder and CEO of OpsMill, "automation is primarily a data problem: if you only have a partial view of your network, you are moving forward blindly."
Infrahub: A Dynamic Mapping of Infrastructures
Since 2023, OpsMill has been developing Infrahub, a platform that centralizes all technical data of a company into a single repository. This tool creates a dynamic mapping of IT infrastructures, encompassing servers, applications, networks, equipment, and cloud services. The goal is to provide technical teams and AI agents with a clear and coherent overview of the IT system.
OpsMill uses "graph" technology, which is more suitable than traditional databases for representing the complex relationships between different technical elements. The startup also adopts an open-source strategy, offering a free version of Infrahub for developers and an "Enterprise" version for large companies. TikTok is already among the users of the open-source version, while the paid edition is utilized by international groups across various sectors such as retail, industry, insurance, and fintech.
Expansion and Future
With this funding round, OpsMill plans to strengthen its product and engineering teams and accelerate its development in Europe and North America. The market is supported by a growing conviction in the industry: without clean and structured data, AI will not be able to effectively automate processes.
