A Stock Market Rebound Thanks to Nvidia
After a challenging June marked by a significant drop in its stock price, Palantir has regained some momentum thanks to a new strategic alliance with Nvidia. The American company's stock rose by more than 3% on Monday, following a notable gain of 5.3% in the previous session. Although the stock remains below its historical levels and is under technical pressure, this partnership seems to rekindle investor interest.
The increase in Palantir's stock, of over 3%, follows the announcement of a strengthened partnership with Nvidia. This collaboration aims to develop secure artificial intelligence platforms specifically designed for U.S. government agencies and critical infrastructures. This initiative comes at a time when Palantir's stock had just experienced its worst month in five years. It provides a new impetus for the company's growth strategy, which specializes in data analytics software, and underscores the growing importance of sovereign AI infrastructures.
A Sovereign AI for Critical Infrastructures
The partnership between Palantir and Nvidia focuses on creating an intelligent engine intended to train and deploy Nvidia's open Nemotron models in sovereign and highly secure environments. U.S. government agencies and critical infrastructure operators are the primary beneficiaries of this initiative, where data privacy is of utmost priority.
This offering combines Nvidia's AI platform, which includes its computing capabilities, software ecosystem, and Nemotron models, with Palantir's key software such as AIP, Foundry, Ontology, and Apollo. The goal is to enable organizations to develop their own specialized models while maintaining full control over their data, intellectual property, and AI systems.
Governments and large enterprises often hesitate to use closed models hosted by third parties. The solution proposed by Palantir and Nvidia addresses these concerns by offering:
- Explicit data authorization
- Client-specific isolation
- Enhanced perimeter security
- Data portability
- The right to deletion
- Complete auditability
These features aim to meet the strictest regulatory requirements while minimizing risks associated with the circulation of sensitive information. The architecture also allows organizations to gradually improve their models using data from operational usage. The systems collect telemetry and traceability information to continuously refine model performance based on completed missions. For regulated sectors, this ability for continuous improvement without loss of control represents a significant competitive advantage.
Strengthening Palantir's AI Strategy
This announcement confirms Palantir's intention to position itself as a provider of AI infrastructures for organizations with the highest security requirements. For several years, the company has been building its development around platforms that integrate data, business processes, and now AI models. By leveraging Nvidia's open models, Palantir seeks to meet the demand for solutions where clients retain control over their data, rather than relying on proprietary environments.
Alex Karp, co-founder and CEO of Palantir, believes that "this combination will allow U.S. government agencies to fully leverage large language models while eliminating the main risks associated with transferring sensitive information to closed models." Jensen Huang, on his part, considers that "open-source AI is now a strategic issue for national security and the technological leadership of the United States."
This shared vision proves that generative AI is no longer limited to conversational assistants. Companies are now seeking platforms capable of integrating AI directly into their operations, with guarantees of sovereignty, compliance, and cost control.
This momentum is also reflected in the extension of the partnership between Palantir and Surf Air Mobility. The two companies are accelerating the deployment of SurfOS, a platform aimed at modernizing private aviation through AI. Powered by AIP and Foundry, it aims to enhance operational efficiency for operators while reducing their costs. Although this announcement is secondary to the partnership with Nvidia, it confirms Palantir's intention to rapidly expand its commercial use cases.
A Fragile Rebound Despite Promising Prospects
Despite the warm reception from investors, the difficulties faced by the stock in recent weeks are not entirely erased. Before this rebound, Palantir had experienced seven consecutive sessions of decline, resulting in a nearly 25% drop in June alone. Since the beginning of the year, the stock has lost about 30%. Markets are questioning the ability of software publishers to sustainably transform the excitement around AI into profitable growth.
From a technical standpoint, the situation remains delicate as the stock continues to trade significantly below its 50-day and 200-day moving averages. Meanwhile, the "death cross" observed earlier this year continues to weigh on investor sentiment. Key momentum indicators also remain oriented downward.
However, the successive announcements from Palantir regarding Nvidia and Surf Air Mobility provide new catalysts that could support market confidence. They particularly demonstrate that the company continues to expand its portfolio of high-value AI projects, both in the public sector and in private industries.
