Paris Leads Europe in AI: France Tops LinkedIn Rankings

Paris, Europe's Leader in Artificial Intelligence

France stands out in the field of artificial intelligence, according to a recent study conducted by LinkedIn. While the United States and China are often perceived as the global leaders, France, and particularly Paris, is establishing itself as a major player in Europe. Companies like Mistral AI, which attract significant funding, and the establishment of Yann LeCun's new AI company, AMI Labs, in Paris, illustrate this dynamic.

Growth of AI Jobs in Europe

The LinkedIn study, presented at the 2026 edition of the VivaTech conference, highlights France's position in the AI job sector in Europe. Between 2023 and 2025, 256,000 jobs in this field were created within the European Union. Paris stands out particularly, with 20,000 jobs, representing 8% of the European total. This figure far exceeds that of other major cities like Dublin, Madrid, Milan, or Munich, where each has generated between 4,000 and 6,000 positions.

The Rise of AI Beyond Paris

France's development in artificial intelligence is not limited to Paris. Cities like Grenoble, with its microelectronics and semiconductor ecosystem, and Toulouse, home to Airbus, also play a key role. In terms of the concentration of AI specialists relative to the workforce, Grenoble and Toulouse even surpass Paris, with respective indices of 1.6 and 1.5, compared to 1.4 for the capital.

Sectors Demanding AI Skills

The study also emphasizes that the defense and aerospace industries are particularly in demand for artificial intelligence skills. Furthermore, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) show a greater interest than large companies, with 1.7% of their job postings requiring AI engineering skills, compared to 1.3% for large enterprises.
