Dust, the Parisian AI Gem, Charms Sequoia and Abstract
Dust, a Paris-based scaleup specializing in the development of artificial intelligence agents for businesses, has recently completed a Series B funding round, raising $40 million. This funding round was co-led by Sequoia, a major player in venture capital, and Abstract, a California-based company. American cloud companies Datadog and Snowflake also participated in this funding round. With this raise, Dust has reached a total of over $60 million in funds raised.
Rapid Growth Since Its Inception
Founded in 2022 by Gabriel Hubert and Stanislas Polu, two former Stripe employees, Dust has quickly established itself as a rising star in AI in Paris. Polu, who also worked at OpenAI, has helped make Dust a platform where companies can create and deploy collaborative AI agents. These agents are not just isolated assistants; they actively participate in team workflows, enabling continuous improvement shared across the organization.
Hubert explains that the goal is to enhance current deployments of technology in businesses, where each individual employee relies on their own AI assistant. "We call this approach single-player AI, where there is one agent per person," says Hubert. "This is the default level of AI adoption for most companies today."
Massive Deployment and Prestigious Clients
Dust has already attracted 3,000 organizations, deploying 300,000 AI agents. Among its clients are European tech companies like Qonto, Alan, and Pennylane, as well as British firms like Causaly and Paddle. The startup has also managed to attract non-AI specialized companies, ranging from 500 to 10,000 employees.
The United States represents a key market for Dust, with rapid growth and clients such as Datadog and 1Password. The startup recently reached $20 million in annual recurring revenue, a significant jump from its early days when it achieved €1 million in ARR two years ago. Although Dust is not yet profitable, its primary goal is to accelerate its growth, particularly through investments in research and development and expansion into the American market.
A Promising Future
With this new funding, Dust aims to strengthen its presence in the United States, where the future of AI in business is being shaped. "Our largest deployments are with American companies that use Dust daily," explains Gabriel Hubert. This funding round aims to position Dust as a key player in the enterprise AI sector.
The Series B funding will allow Dust to invest further in research and development (R&D) and growth in the United States. "Our largest enterprise deployments are with American companies, and these companies use Dust every day, not just for a pilot project," explains Hubert. "The United States is where the enterprise AI category will be decided, and we are participating as a full-fledged player."
