Xiaomi Establishes Itself in the AI Race with MiMo-V2-Pro

The list of companies capable of creating high-performing artificial intelligences is growing. Xiaomi, the Chinese giant well-known for its smartphones and electric vehicles, is set to amaze the world with its own AI model. While American companies like OpenAI with ChatGPT and Google with Gemini have been pioneers in democratizing AI, Chinese firms have quickly caught up. They have proven they can compete with their American counterparts, as seen with DeepSeek.

Hunter Alpha, an Intriguing Model

A mysterious AI model, dubbed Hunter Alpha, has recently stirred up intrigue on the Internet. Since March 11, AI experts have been wondering who is behind this model registered on the unified API platform OpenRouteur, without mentioning a developer's name. This anonymous model quickly demonstrated incredible performance, suggesting it originated from one of the already established giants.

Xiaomi, the Unexpected Creator

It has been determined that the Hunter Alpha model was primarily trained with Chinese data, leading many to believe that DeepSeek was preparing to launch a new model. However, this hypothesis turned out to be incorrect. Xiaomi is actually behind this model. Luo Fuli, head of Xiaomi's MiMo team, specializing in AI and a former researcher at DeepSeek, revealed that Hunter Alpha was, in fact, the first internal test version of the MiMo-V2-Pro model.

A "Brain" for AI Agents

This model, according to Luo Fuli, is intended to serve as a "brain" for AI agents. In a message posted on X this Thursday, she announced the development of the Pro, Omni, and TTS versions of this model, which are designed for the new era of AI agents. She also specified that once these models are sufficiently stable, they will be made open-source, allowing for greater collaboration and innovation in the field of artificial intelligence.
