Zoom Unveils Its AI Avatars and an Innovative Office Suite
Zoom, the renowned video conferencing platform, recently announced the imminent launch of its AI-powered avatars, which will be available by the end of the month. These avatars, designed to represent users during online meetings, are part of a series of new features the company plans to roll out. Among these innovations are productivity applications such as AI Docs, Slides, and Sheets, an AI agent builder aimed at non-technical users, as well as a voice translator for meetings.
The company specified that its productivity applications, leveraging artificial intelligence, will be accessible in a preliminary version starting next spring.
AI Avatars for More Dynamic Meetings
Zoom's AI avatars, initially announced last year, are designed to be photorealistic and capable of mimicking users' appearance, facial expressions, as well as lip and eye movements. These avatars are particularly useful for moments when participants prefer not to appear on screen. Zoom indicated that these avatars will be usable not only during online meetings but also in its asynchronous video messaging service.
In parallel, Zoom is introducing deepfake detection technology for its meetings, aimed at alerting participants in case of attempts at audio or video impersonation.
An AI-Enhanced Office Suite
Zoom's new suite of office applications, including AI Docs, Slides, and Sheets, is designed to facilitate the creation of documents, spreadsheets, and presentations based on meeting transcriptions and data from other services. This AI integration aims to simplify and accelerate the content creation process for users.
Additionally, Zoom's AI Companion 3.0, already available on the web since September, is now accessible on the desktop application. The company noted a significant increase in the number of monthly active users of this tool, tripling in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026 compared to the previous year.
AI Integration in Workvivo and Other Services
Zoom's internal communication app, Workvivo, will also benefit from the integration of the AI assistant. This assistant can connect to various services such as Slack, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Gmail, Outlook, Asana, and Jira, allowing users to ask questions across different knowledge bases.
Zoom is not the only company venturing into the development of AI-focused office software. Established players like Canva, as well as new startups such as Context, are also exploring this field. Furthermore, Slack, owned by Salesforce, has recently enhanced its team communication applications with additional AI features.
Creation of Custom Agents and APIs for Developers
To address the growing interest in automated workflows, Zoom now allows users to create custom agents through natural language prompts. Once created, these agents can be mentioned in discussions to perform various tasks.
For developers, Zoom offers its voice, visual, and language intelligence APIs, which can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud, providing greater flexibility for AI integration in various environments.
Enhancing User Experience with AI
Finally, Zoom is improving its chat experience by using AI to extract key information and summarize discussions. The company also plans to unify the design of its interfaces across different platforms, such as desktop, mobile, and web, to facilitate access to AI tools like notes, meeting questions, and transcriptions.
