WhatsApp Enhances Its Features with Meta AI and Multi-Account Support on iOS
WhatsApp, Meta's messaging app, continues to evolve with a series of new features announced in a blog post on March 26, 2026. These updates focus on storage management, data portability between different platforms, the introduction of multi-account support on iOS, and deeper integration of Meta AI into conversations.
Simplifying Storage Management and Data Transfers
After introducing supervised accounts for children under 13 and new options for group chats, WhatsApp, which boasts 3 billion monthly active users, continues its development. The stated goal is to make the app "even easier to use."
Freeing Up Space Without Losing Conversations
WhatsApp now offers an option to locate and delete large files in any conversation through the "Manage Storage" feature. This functionality, accessible by selecting the conversation title, allows users to delete only media while retaining the message history.
Simplified Transfer of History Between iOS and Android
WhatsApp now facilitates the transfer of chat history from an iOS device to an Android device. Previously, this operation was limited to devices using the same operating system. Users can now transfer account information, profile pictures, individual and group chats, call history, media, and app settings. However, status updates, display names, and media received via WhatsApp channels will not be retained during the transfer.
Managing Two WhatsApp Accounts on iPhone
The ability to manage two WhatsApp accounts simultaneously, already available on Android, is now accessible on iOS. This feature allows users to separate their professional and personal lives without needing two phones. To activate a secondary account, users simply need a second phone number and can go to "Settings > Add Account."
Sticker Suggestions Based on Emojis
WhatsApp is also introducing a feature that suggests stickers corresponding to the emojis typed on the keyboard. A simple tap allows users to replace an emoji with a sticker that perfectly reflects their mood.
Advanced Integration of Meta AI in WhatsApp
Meta AI continues to integrate into WhatsApp with two new features announced by the California-based group.
Photo Editing Before Sending
Thanks to Meta AI, users can now edit their photos before sending them in a conversation. The conversational agent allows users to remove unwanted elements, change backgrounds, or apply style effects. However, this feature is not yet available to all users.
Writing Help Tool
In the coming weeks, the "Writing Help" feature already present on WhatsApp will be enhanced. It will be able to suggest responses based on the context of the conversation. To use it, users simply need to open the input bar, tap the sticker icon, and then click on the pencil icon.
Availability of New Features
These new features are currently being rolled out. WhatsApp has indicated that they will be accessible to all users soon, although no specific date has been provided.
