Adobe and OpenAI: A Strengthened Collaboration

August 6, 2026 marks an important milestone in the partnership between Adobe and OpenAI. Adobe has announced the launch of an innovative plugin for ChatGPT, integrating over 70 tools from its design and productivity applications. Among these applications are iconic names such as Photoshop, Firefly, Premiere, and Illustrator. Until now, Adobe had already begun integrating some of its tools on the OpenAI platform, but they operated in isolation.

Centralized Access to Adobe Tools

This new plugin, compatible with Codex and ChatGPT Work, brings together tools from previous Adobe applications for ChatGPT, which have been gradually introduced since last December. In addition to these tools, it includes additional features from Adobe Express, Photoshop, Firefly, Premiere, Acrobat, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, and Stock. With this plugin, users can now access over 70 functionalities, such as asset creation, PDF generation, or photo retouching. Adobe specifies that the plugin automatically selects the most suitable tools to meet user requests.

The use of the plugin is free for all ChatGPT users, whether on the web version or via the app. A Guest mode allows access to a wide range of features without requiring an account creation. However, logging in with an Adobe account unlocks generative capabilities, access to Creative Cloud files, and the ability to save projects across different sessions, thus facilitating continuity of work between Adobe applications and the OpenAI platform.

An Ambitious Multiplatform Strategy

Vibhor Chhabra, product manager at OpenAI, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration, emphasizing that ChatGPT is designed to connect users to the best capabilities for each task. Adobe's tools enable users to express their creativity, communicate effectively, and enhance their productivity. This initiative is part of a multiplatform strategy that Adobe has been developing for several months. In addition to ChatGPT, Adobe has also deployed its tools on other platforms such as Claude and Copilot. Integrations with Slack and Gemini are also planned in the coming weeks.

Activating the Adobe Plugin in ChatGPT

The Adobe plugin is now available globally and can be activated in ChatGPT by following a few simple steps:

• Open ChatGPT,
• Go to the Plugins tab and download the Adobe plugin,
• Start a new conversation and type "@Adobe" in the prompt bar,
• Select Adobe from the menu or use the + button to choose it from the already installed plugins.
