Tech companies are offering very high salary caps for these roles. Data scientists in OpenAI's security team can earn up to $325,000 per year. At Anthropic, the salary for an analyst responsible for implementing security measures for child protection can reach $285,000. Google is hiring a policy strategy specialist dedicated to children and families, with a maximum salary of $239,000, plus a target bonus of 20% and stock options. A program manager for GRC integrity at Meta can receive up to $209,000, supplemented by a bonus and stock options. These roles encompass technical research, risk mitigation, public policy, and the integration of security frameworks into products, aiming to ensure the safety and ethics of AI systems.

LinkedIn reports a 91% increase in AI security-related roles year-over-year. This trend is developing as bipartisan discussions on AI security continue. "AI security is a topic that many people are talking about," said Daniel Shapero. In a market deemed stagnant, these roles form a growth island. They also address concerns revived by recent incidents, highlighting the importance of safe and ethical operation of systems.

Frozen market but AI jobs booming since 2023

LinkedIn reports that technology has enabled the creation of about 2 million additional jobs since 2023. This year, the number of AI experts working in the field has increased by 226%, while AI forensic analysts have risen by 169%.
