Amazon and Kate Spade Partner for a New AI Shopping Experience
Amazon recently unveiled a new AI-based shopping assistant called the Agentic Shopping Assistant, aimed at retailers, utilizing its AWS platform. Among the first brands to adopt this technology is Kate Spade, which has integrated this innovative tool to enhance its customers' experience.
This service allows retailers to design personalized AI shopping assistants for their websites and applications. Each deployment is adaptable based on the product catalog, customer profile, shopping environment, and the specific brand voice of the retailer. This technology is built on innovations initially developed for Amazon's own online store.
A Proven and Customizable Technology
Amazon revealed that over 300 million customers used its AI shopping assistant last year, generating nearly $12 billion in additional sales. The service enables retailers to set up conversational agents in just a few weeks, a task that could otherwise take years if developed from scratch.
The offering includes guidance on architecture, starter code, and support from AWS experts as well as system integration partners. This allows for a quick and efficient implementation for businesses looking to adopt this technology.
Kate Spade Innovates with an AI Gift Concierge
Kate Spade, under the Tapestry umbrella, was one of the first to adopt this technology, launching an AI Gift Concierge. This assistant helps customers choose gifts through a conversational interface, addressing a need identified by Amazon's data, which shows that 53% of shoppers feel stressed when buying gifts.
Fabio Luzzi, Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Tapestry, explained that this tool was developed in response to consumer needs. After about two and a half months of testing, the assistant is now available to customers.
AWS Technologies at the Heart of Innovation
The system relies on several AWS services, including Amazon Bedrock, AgentCore, and OpenSearch. Bedrock supports generative AI applications, AgentCore manages the operation of AI agents, and OpenSearch is used for information search and retrieval.
Amazon noted that conversational shopping sessions increase conversion rates by 3.5 times compared to traditional keyword-based searches. This launch continues the expansion of Alexa for Shopping in the United States, which allows users to ask shopping-related questions and receive answers in a conversational format.
