Anthropic: 50.1% of Votes for Founders at IPO

The AI specialist has formalized its IPO with a structure that grants the majority of voting rights to the founders and a trust tasked with influencing the board. The company reports a significant increase in revenue but remains heavily in the red and warns that it may not be profitable. The amount to be raised and the share price have not yet been specified.
Founders Will Retain 50.1% of Voting Rights
The Founder LLC vehicle will hold 50.1% of the voting rights once the company is listed. The announced governance structure ensures that the seven co-founders retain control of the group. Dario Amodei, Daniela Amodei, Tom Brown, Jack Clark, Jared Kaplan, Sam McCandlish, and Christopher Olah are members of this arrangement. Anthropic states that this scheme aims to preserve its mission of AI safety. Established in 2023, the Long-Term Benefit Trust will have the power to appoint the majority of the board of directors to ensure a public interest orientation. This architecture is controversial as the founders' voting share exceeds their economic weight, which will limit the effective control of public shareholders. The company also describes its technology as carrying "catastrophic or existential" risks for humanity.

Revenue Growth and High Losses Remain Present
Anthropic reports $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, compared to $1.2 billion a year earlier. The operating loss stands at $693 million, an improvement from the $2.1 billion loss in the first half of 2025. The net loss reaches $80.7 billion, a phenomenon the company primarily attributes to non-cash accounting adjustments on convertible debt. Anthropic warns that it may not achieve or maintain profitability in the future. On the customer side, by the end of September, over 11,900 clients were spending at least $100,000 per year, 1,900 at least $1 million, and about 250 at least $10 million.
Filing Submitted, ANT Symbol Planned, Offer Parameters Not Disclosed
The company submitted its IPO filing on a Monday to the regulator. Anthropic aims for a listing under the symbol ANT. The amount sought and the offering price have not been disclosed at this stage. This filing comes after several weeks of leaks regarding the content of the S-1.
