Anthropic Unveils Its AI Agents for Finance

On May 5, 2026, Anthropic announced the launch of ten specialized AI agents aimed at automating the most labor-intensive financial tasks. These agents are designed to streamline daily processes in banks, asset management firms, and finance teams. By integrating Claude with tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, Anthropic promises significant time savings on often lengthy and repetitive tasks, such as preparing business presentations, analyzing financial results, and conducting KYC compliance checks.

A Response to Growing Demand from Financial Institutions

Anthropic seeks to position Claude as a true operational platform for financial professions. This ambition is being realized through its new data connectors and native integration with Microsoft 365. The company aims to enable businesses to deploy industry-specific AI agents in just a few days. According to The Wall Street Journal, Anthropic aspires to meet the growing demand from financial institutions for more integrated AI tools within business workflows.

The new models are based on Claude Opus 4.7, which is one of the most powerful systems on the market for financial applications. The company claims that its model dominates the Finance Agent benchmark from Vals AI with a score of 64.37%. The ten agents cover several strategic functions. On the front office side, Claude can prepare sales pitches, analyze company results, track markets, and build financial models from documents and data streams.

Specialized Agents for Each Function

For finance and compliance functions, Anthropic also offers specialized agents for accounting reconciliation, monthly closing, financial statement audits, and KYC verification. Each agent combines business expertise, data connectors, and specialized sub-agents that perform specific tasks. For example, a bank can adapt the models to its own compliance rules, risk policies, or valuation methods.

Full Integration with Microsoft 365

Anthropic has also implemented native integration of Claude with Microsoft 365 tools. Add-ins for Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are already available, while integration with Outlook is expected soon. Claude can thus build a financial model in Excel, automatically transfer everything to PowerPoint, and then generate a presentation that updates as data changes. In Word, the AI can modify credit notes according to a company's internal standards. Outlook, for its part, is expected to allow Claude to sort emails, organize meetings, and draft responses in the user's style.

This contextual continuity between applications is one of Anthropic's main selling points. Analysts no longer need to re-explain their work when switching tools. The AI retains context and automatically continues ongoing tasks.

Dispatch and Real-Time Data Access

Anthropic is also introducing Dispatch, a feature that allows tasks to be assigned remotely via message or voice command in the Cowork version. The agent can then continue working on the user's local files in the background. To win over financial institutions, Anthropic is also focusing on access to market data and tools already used by professionals. Claude can connect to several major platforms such as FactSet, S&P Capital IQ, PitchBook, Morningstar, and LSEG.

The company is also adding new connectors to access financial data, expert transcripts, or due diligence data rooms. New partners include Dun & Bradstreet, IBISWorld, Guidepoint, and Verisk. Anthropic also announces an MCP application developed with Moody’s, providing access to credit data on over 600 million companies.

A Reference AI Platform for Finance

With this announcement, Anthropic is gradually building a comprehensive platform aimed at financial services. The agents can be deployed as plugins in Claude Cowork and Claude Code, or operate as autonomous agents via Claude Managed Agents. In the latter case, the agents can execute lengthy tasks, manage overnight workflows, and maintain detailed audit logs that can be reviewed by compliance and IT teams.

However, Anthropic emphasizes one point: humans remain in the loop. Users must always review, modify, and approve outputs before final use. This could reassure the financial sector, as regulatory requirements remain high. It also positions Anthropic against increasingly intense competition in enterprise AI, particularly from OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft.

With these new financial AI agents, Anthropic primarily demonstrates that intelligent automation is now entering a much more concrete phase, one where tools execute complete business processes directly at the heart of financial operations.
