Anthropic in Search of Historic Valuation
Anthropic, the artificial intelligence startup, is exploring investment offers for a new funding round. According to Bloomberg, these offers could value the company at over $900 billion. If this valuation is achieved, Anthropic would surpass OpenAI to become the most valuable AI startup in the world. However, discussions are still in the preliminary stage, and no offers have been accepted so far. Anthropic had previously rejected several offers at valuations of $800 billion or more, apparently waiting for a higher figure.
Strategic Investments from Google and Amazon
Google recently invested $10 billion in Anthropic, based on a previous valuation of $350 billion from a funding round in February. This partnership could expand with up to $30 billion more if Anthropic meets certain performance targets. Meanwhile, Amazon has injected $5 billion into the company at the same valuation, with the intention of investing an additional $20 billion. However, the participation of Google and Amazon in this new funding round remains uncertain.
IPO Prospects
Anthropic is also considering an initial public offering (IPO) starting in October. This strategy could provide the company with a new avenue to raise funds and increase its visibility in the market. In the meantime, OpenAI, recently valued at $852 billion, is struggling to meet its revenue and growth targets, which could influence the competitive dynamics between the two AI giants.
