Anthropic Introduces Claude Wrapped: AI Takes a Look Back
Anthropic has announced a new reflection feature for its chatbot Claude, allowing users to visualize an analysis of their usage data over a period of one month, three months, six months, or a year.
The company describes this reflection dashboard as a way to "see your patterns and shape them." It begins with a summary of the main topics discussed with Claude, as well as the types of tasks delegated and usage patterns, including peak hours. Users will also be able to set their own "quiet hours" or reminders to take breaks after a certain amount of usage. Anthropic also mentioned that an analysis of the total time spent using Claude will soon be available.
This feature enables users to easily track and visualize their usage of Claude and decide if that time aligns with their goals. The reflection encourages users to take a step back and examine the role Claude plays in their lives by periodically asking questions such as: "What is one thing you wish to continue doing yourself, even if Claude could do it faster?" Once a user answers such a question, the dashboard will then give them "the chance to discuss it with Claude."
Anthropic has heavily invested in marketing to position itself as the company behind an AI collaborator that enables people to think more deeply. Claude's reflection feature is presented in the same way, with a message inviting users to "develop AI skills that support their original thinking." The feature will show examples of how users interact with Claude, noting that they often rewrite email drafts in their own voice or delegate tasks only after establishing the strategy themselves.
The reflection dashboard will not pull information from files in connected tools or platforms (such as actual emails in a connected email account), although the fact that a user has used Claude to summarize their inbox may appear in the reflection. It will also not draw information from discussions that took place in incognito mode or reference any "conversation related to a health integration tool." Regarding "sensitive topics," which Anthropic defines vaguely, the company clarified that "sensitive conversations may still appear in your reflection, but only at a high level."
This feature, currently available in beta for free users of Claude, as well as for Pro and Max subscribers, will work for those who have enabled memory for their discussions. It is accessible via the settings on the web or the Claude desktop app. The idea originated from interviews with Claude users, and the feature will also be available on Claude Cowork "soon."
