Anthropic recently announced the launch of Claude Design, an innovative tool aimed at simplifying the creation of visuals for those without design training. This experimental product, unveiled on Friday, seeks to help founders and product managers express their ideas visually without requiring advanced technical skills. Claude Design allows users to create various visuals such as prototypes, slides, fact sheets, and more.
With Claude Design, users can simply describe the type of visual they wish to create. Claude then generates an initial version that the user can refine through direct modifications or specific requests. For example, a user might request the creation of a mobile app prototype with calming typography and nature-inspired colors, and then adjust these elements according to their preferences.
Although Claude Design may seem to compete with popular design applications like Canva, Anthropic clarifies that its tool is designed to complement these platforms rather than replace them. The goal is to provide a solution for those who are not starting from a design tool and need to quickly transform an idea into a concrete visual.
Users can export their creations in various formats, including PDF, URL, PPTX, or directly to Canva, where they remain fully editable and collaborative. Claude Design is also capable of applying a company's design system to each project, ensuring consistency with the organization's visual style. This is made possible by Claude's ability to read a company's source code and design files.
The product is powered by Claude Opus 4.7 and is currently available in research preview for subscribers of the Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. This launch is part of Anthropic's strategy to strengthen its presence in the enterprise and prosumer segments as competition in the field of AI-based work tools intensifies.
In January, Anthropic launched Claude Cowork, an agentic assistant designed for complex tasks. A few weeks later, the company introduced agentic plug-ins to Cowork, aimed at automating specialized tasks within various departments of a company.
This announcement comes shortly after Bloomberg revealed that venture capital investors have proposed to Anthropic a preemptive funding round valuing the company at $800 billion or more, a valuation that would rival that of OpenAI. However, Anthropic has reportedly shown no interest in these offers.
