Anthropic has recently launched Claude Design, an artificial intelligence tool aimed at transforming the way designers and product or marketing teams conceive their projects. The tool stands out for its ability to cater to two types of users: designers, who can explore multiple creative avenues simultaneously, and product or marketing managers, who can turn an idea into a visual rendering without needing specific technical skills.

Claude Design is powered by Claude Opus 4.7, an AI model optimized for the production of interfaces and documents, thereby facilitating the work of teams by providing them with quick and effective visual solutions.

The Varied Features of Claude Design

The tool offers six main use cases that illustrate its versatility:

• Interactive Prototypes: From static mockups, users can create interactive prototypes to gather feedback or conduct user testing.

• Product Mockups: These mockups can be sent to Claude Code for development or to a designer for adjustments.

• Design Explorations: Users can test multiple design directions in parallel, thereby expanding their creative possibilities.

• Presentations: Creations can be exported to PowerPoint or Canva, making it easier to prepare professional presentations.

• Marketing Materials: Claude Design allows for the creation of landing pages, visuals for social media, and other campaign materials.

• Multimedia Prototypes: The tool integrates elements of code, voice, video, 3D, and AI, offering a comprehensive prototyping experience.

Simplified Creation Process

Claude Design operates in two main steps, starting with the setup of the design system. On the Team and Enterprise plans, users can feed the tool with resources that define their brand's visual identity. Claude extracts a UI kit from this, ensuring visual consistency across all projects.

To produce a project, users create a project that inherits the design system, describe the desired interface in natural language, and iterate on the generated version. Modifications can be made via chat for global changes or targeted comments for precise adjustments. Projects can then be exported in various formats or sent to Claude Code for development.

Practical Tips for Using Claude Design

Anthropic recommends starting with simple projects before adding interactions or addressing edge cases. It is advisable to refine comments, preferring numerical instructions over vague critiques. Components of the design system should be referenced by their name, and it is important to specify from the outset whether the design should be adapted for mobile, tablet, or desktop. In case of uncertainty about the direction to take, asking for two or three variations can be helpful. Finally, Claude can be consulted for a review of accessibility, contrast, or information hierarchy.

Current Integrations and Limitations

From its launch, Claude Design integrates with Canva and Claude Code, facilitating the transition between design and development. Other integrations are planned, although some limitations remain, such as the potential disappearance of comments on the canvas or slowdowns with large codebases.

Access and Subscriptions

Claude Design is accessible through Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscriptions. On the Enterprise plan, the tool is disabled by default and must be activated by administrators. Users can track their usage of Claude Design through their account settings.
