Anthropic Launches Claude for Verified American Teachers

Anthropic is rolling out Claude for Teachers, a free offering aimed at verified educators in K-12 schools across the United States. This includes access to Claude as well as Claude Code and the Cowork feature, a library of teaching-specific skills, and connections to curriculum-aligned content. The company claims that this covers educational standards in all 50 states.

Teachers can use it to:

• Plan lessons
• Differentiate materials
• Analyze student data

Recurring tasks, such as daily quizzes, can be automated and scheduled to run at specified times. Integrations with tools like Canva Education, MagicSchool, and ASSISTments allow teachers to incorporate Claude into their existing workflows. Anthropic states that it will not use any processed data for model training. The American Federation of Teachers is collaborating with Anthropic on privacy standards.

Anthropic is also releasing a free, model-agnostic AI course for educators and a GitHub repository with agent skills. The company plans to study the impact of Claude for Teachers through a pilot program in public schools in Detroit. This new offering builds on Claude for Education, which is already serving colleges and universities. The learning mode of this program was created because students reported in interviews that AI tools were eroding their ability to think independently, according to Drew Bent, head of education at Anthropic. Registrations for Claude for Teachers are open until June 2027.
