Anthropic Unveils Ten AI Agents for the Financial Sector

Anthropic has recently launched a series of ten artificial intelligence agents specifically designed for the financial industry. These tools aim to automate repetitive tasks in key areas such as research, risk assessment, and financial accounting, according to the company. The agents can be used as plugins or operate autonomously on Anthropic's platform, integrating external financial data through an expanded network of partners.

Each model combines skills, data connections, and specialized sub-agents, according to Anthropic. The models can function as plugins in Claude Cowork and Claude Code directly on the user's desktop, or as "Claude Managed Agents" autonomously, for example, managing multi-hour transaction closures with a complete audit trail.

This development is part of a growing competition with OpenAI to attract enterprise clients, as both companies prepare for potential IPOs that could occur later this year. Anthropic and OpenAI are supporting new multi-billion dollar joint ventures to promote large-scale AI adoption.

Features of the AI Agents

Anthropic's AI agents cover several aspects of finance. For research and client interactions, the tools include a "Pitch builder" to compile lists of target companies and draft pitchbooks, a "Meeting preparer" for briefings, an "Earnings reviewer" for annual reports, and a "Model builder" for financial models.

In the areas of credit, risk, and compliance, Anthropic offers a "Market researcher" and a "KYC screener" to prepare compliance escalations. The agents also manage valuation revisions, account book reconciliations, month-end closures, and financial report reviews.

Expansion of the Partner Network

Anthropic is also expanding its partner network with new connectors to companies such as Dun & Bradstreet, Fiscal AI, Financial Modeling Prep, Guidepoint, IBISWorld, SS&C IntraLinks, Third Bridge, and Verisk. Moody's contributes with an MCP application containing credit data on over 600 million companies.

Competition with OpenAI for Financial Clients

This launch is part of a strategy to attract new clients, particularly in the financial sector. Anthropic already counts companies like Goldman Sachs, Citadel, Citi, and AIG among its clients. Jonathan Pelosi, head of financial services at Anthropic, stated that these new tools aim to "bridge the gap" between the rapid advancement of AI and the ability of financial firms to implement them.

Both Anthropic and OpenAI are preparing for potential IPOs, requiring a demonstration of revenue growth and traction with enterprise clients. OpenAI is collaborating with banks such as BNY and BBVA.

New joint ventures are part of this strategy. Anthropic announced yesterday a $1.5 billion partnership with Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman, and Goldman Sachs to deploy AI tools in the portfolio companies of private equity firms. Shortly before this, news revealed that OpenAI was launching a similar joint venture with The Deployment Company.
