Anthropic Launches Claude Duet, Cloud Assistant for Professionals

Anthropic launches a preview version of Claude Duet, an assistance application designed for professionals and small businesses. Like the offerings already visible from Meta and OpenAI, it operates continuously on a virtual machine and requires validation before sensitive actions.
Continuous Operation and Mandatory Validation
Claude Duet operates on a cloud-based virtual machine, allowing it to be active at all times, even when the user is unavailable. Before any action deemed important, the assistant systematically requests the user's consent. Anthropic specifies that Claude Duet can read, write, and prepare tasks autonomously, but it clearly displays the intended action, such as sending a message, making a payment, signing, or deleting, and waits for approval before proceeding. The novelty lies in these assistants' ability to initiate tasks on their own while seeking validation, whereas traditional agents wait for explicit instructions. This continuous operation is made possible by the cloud infrastructure, enabling the assistant to work even while the user is asleep.
Players Already Positioned for 24/7 Assistance
OpenAI already offers ChatGPT Dot, which also relies on a remote virtual computer to ensure constant availability. More broadly, a new generation of more autonomous assistants is emerging, promising a service that is accessible at any time. At Meta, Muse aims to automate daily tasks such as online shopping. In North America, Muse already claims over 10 million users.

Claude Duet Targets Professionals and Relies on Opus 5.5
Anthropic is launching this week a preview version of Claude Duet, presented as an assistant capable of signaling what requires attention, executing assigned tasks, and continuing work in the user's absence, all while asking for permission before acting on their behalf. The company targets professionals and leaders of small organizations. Technically, the application uses the same models as Claude, particularly Claude Opus 5.5. It is designed to be more proactive and autonomous through integrations with connected applications, regularly leveraging context from the services used by the user.
Reported Use Cases: Calendars, Documents, and Management
A real estate agent reports that Claude Duet independently detected a property visit scheduled for the wrong date in her calendar, without any intervention on her part. Another user indicates that the assistant identified a call with a potential client in his calendar and automatically generated a document for that meeting, then suggested moving the time due to a flight scheduled just before. Anthropic also shares the testimony of a restaurateur who uses Claude Duet to automate the management of his establishment, from accounting to marketing.
Availability: Pro and Max on Waitlist
Access to Claude Duet is currently reserved for Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers. Interested users must sign up for a waitlist to test the preview version of the application.
