Anthropic Revolutionizes Claude with Video Learning

One of the promises of AI is its ability to automate repetitive tasks on a computer, allowing workers to focus on more important activities. With Claude, Anthropic already offers the Claude Cowork platform, which allows users to ask the AI to perform recurring tasks on their behalf. Now, this work automation is even simpler.

Previously, it was necessary to write a good prompt to automate a task. However, thanks to a new feature recently announced by Anthropic, it is now possible to teach a new skill to Claude Cowork using a video. “Record your screen while performing a task, comment on it aloud as you go, and Claude will turn it into a skill that it can execute again,” explains Anthropic in a post on X. A new button to “record” a skill is available to subscribers of the Claude Pro, Max, and Team plans.

A Similar Feature at OpenAI

Claude is not the first AI capable of learning a new task via a user video. In June, OpenAI introduced a similar feature for its AI agent platform Codex. The user shares a demonstration of a task with the AI, which can then autonomously reproduce it.

In the example shared by OpenAI, an employee automates the posting of a video on YouTube by retrieving the necessary texts from a file. OpenAI notes that it is also possible to use these skills created with a video to automate recurring actions, such as:

  • Submitting an expense request
  • Submitting a leave request

These features offered by Anthropic and OpenAI will facilitate task automation, especially for those who still struggle to communicate the expected outcome to the AI in text form.

Claude Cowork allows for task automation, but until now, it was necessary to write a prompt to indicate to the AI what it should do. Now, it is also possible to record a demonstration video so that the AI can reproduce the task when needed.
