Anthropic Unifies Claude and Cowork, Launches Pro and Max Versions

Anthropic brings together chat, the agent, and Artifacts into a single Claude interface, which also includes Claude Docs and Slides. The rollout begins with the paid Pro and Max plans, featuring a beta that can be activated by administrators and a 30-day notice for Enterprise. The agent's autonomy remains adjustable, and Cowork data is retained.
The new Claude interface arrives first for Pro and Max subscribers
The new Claude interface is initially offered to Pro and Max subscribers on web, desktop, and mobile applications, with a gradual rollout over the coming weeks. Current and new subscribers do not need to take any action. Team and Free plans will receive the update at a later date, with no announced timeline. For Enterprise organizations, Anthropic specifies that administrators will be informed at least 30 days before any changes to their environment. Claude Docs, Claude Slides, and Claude Design are accessible in beta on paid plans, with activation dependent on Enterprise administrators. Cowork users retain all their conversations, projects, Artifacts, connectors, and skills.

A unique Claude interface with chat, agent, Design, Docs, and Slides
Cowork and chat are now combined into a single interface called Claude. From any conversation, users can access the agent, Artifacts, and Claude Design, along with the context, skills, and connectors already in place. The model automatically determines the appropriate processing mode for the request, eliminating the need to select a specific tab. Claude Design can be used directly from chat while remaining available separately. Two new modules, Claude Docs for document creation and Claude Slides for presentations, are integrated into conversations. This merger ends the dedicated Cowork space, which was launched in January 2026 and expanded to web and mobile in July.
Adjustable autonomy and advanced features from Anthropic
The level of autonomy for Claude remains configurable. By default, the agent requests validation before executing an action, but there is an option to activate a mode where it continues its work uninterrupted and only prompts the user for points requiring verification. Anthropic states that the user retains the final say on Claude's actions. The company explains that this merger addresses user feedback, as many found it cumbersome to choose between Cowork and Design for each task, especially since work started in one environment did not carry over to the other.
