Apple Limits Siri AI Waitlist During Demand Peaks

Apple now reserves the Siri AI waitlist for periods of high demand only and plans for automatic downloading for eligible users who choose to participate. The assistant, still in beta and accessible only on compatible Apple Intelligence devices, relies on more personal context and an architecture designed to evolve.
Conditional Access and Beta Version
Siri AI is still in beta and requires a device compatible with Apple Intelligence. On iPhone, only models starting from the iPhone 15 Pro allow the use of the assistant. John Ternus, Apple’s new CEO, clarified that Siri AI primarily operates on current requests and relies on a modern architecture, driven by an orchestrator, designed to enable the expansion of its capabilities in the future. Siri AI also has its own standalone application. During the earnings call on Monday, John Ternus stated, “With Siri AI, we really have the Siri we’ve always wanted.”

Contextual Features
Siri AI utilizes the user's personal context through applications like iMessage, Calendar, Mail, and Photos to perform tasks such as retrieving a flight number or identifying products displayed on the screen. Apple claims that the assistant will become more efficient as it gains access to more user context. Siri AI was introduced in June at the Worldwide Developers Conference.
Registration Process and Deployment
Apple now limits the Siri AI waitlist to periods of high demand. On Monday, the company updated its article “How to Get Siri AI” to specify that the feature will be automatically installed for eligible users who choose to sign up. Until now, signing up for the waitlist was necessary, with reported wait times from users ranging from a few hours to several days.
