Apple is planning a major transformation for the iPhone camera with the upcoming iOS 27 update, which will highlight a deeper integration of its Visual Intelligence feature and an enhanced Siri experience. According to a report by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, internal sources at Apple have revealed that users can expect increased integration of Visual Intelligence in photo and video modes with this update.

Initially reported by CNET in March, the rumor regarding the redesign of Siri emerged after Apple delayed its AI plans for Siri. This announcement comes as Apple prepares for the Worldwide Developers Conference 2026, its annual conference scheduled for June, where the company plans to unveil updates for iOS 27.

The Bloomberg report indicates that the update will also enhance Siri's ability to control the iPhone camera, allowing users to switch more easily between photo, video, and portrait modes. This improvement aims to make camera usage more intuitive and accessible.

The initial rumor from March suggested that the new Siri would function as an autonomous AI chatbot rather than just a simple integrated tool. Apple introduced its Visual Intelligence feature in 2024 with the iPhone 16, enabling customers to extract and analyze information directly from images.

The upcoming update is expected to expand image-based capabilities, potentially allowing users to connect to ChatGPT to ask questions about visual content and scan nutritional labels for dietary tracking purposes.

According to Bloomberg, other announcements expected at WWDC 2026 may include new hardware products focused on Siri, such as smart glasses, a wearable pendant, and updated AirPods designed to analyze and interpret the surrounding environment.
