Having joined Amla in July 2025, Balaji Ingole assists manufacturers and B2B clients in modernizing their online sales systems. He designs AI tools tailored to client needs and for his internal team. Among these, he develops chatbots aimed at managing extensive product catalogs on e-commerce platforms. He has also created an AI agent that automates status report generation, a tool he states frees up time for more in-depth tasks. Outside the company, he boasts over 40 peer-reviewed articles and six patents registered in the UK and India.

A Work Organization Shared Between Industry and Health

Balaji Ingole divides his time between a project manager role in Milwaukee and concurrent research activities. During the week, he leads AI-centered digital transformation initiatives to boost sales for Amla's clients. On weekends, he focuses on applied AI projects in health, ranging from diagnostics to assistive technologies for people with disabilities. For nearly a decade, he has dedicated part of his free time to freelance work in data analysis and AI-enabled health applications. He believes that scientific publishing is essential for enhancing his practices as a project manager and researcher-inventor, emphasizing that writing for journals or conferences forces him to refine his methodology.

IEEE as Support: Membership, Roles, and Global Network

Balaji Ingole, who holds senior member status in the IEEE, joined the organization in 2022. He states that this membership now plays a crucial role in his research and professional journey. He regularly utilizes the member directory to establish connections and participates in events as a session chair, keynote speaker, and research paper evaluator. He acknowledges that this membership has allowed him to access other groups and develop a global network of partners with whom to discuss future projects and share information.

A Professional Path Through Public Health Data

Before joining Amla, he took on the role of project manager at Mars IT Solutions in Madison in 2022, then joined Gainwell Technologies the following year. In this company, he oversaw projects related to the IT systems of health services across several states in the U.S., which, according to him, made him aware of the importance of data in the health sector. Previously, he earned a master's degree in business administration in 2017 from the Welingkar Institute in Mumbai, after spending 13 years in software engineering and project management roles at Indian IT companies. After graduating, he began with a six-month internship at the Tata Research Design and Development Center in Pune, followed by an engineering internship at Honeywell Automation.

Screenless Beginnings and a Trigger at University

Hailing from Udgir in Maharashtra, Balaji Ingole grew up without computers or phones around him, in a village where only one house had a television, serving as a gathering point for neighbors. He says he saw a computer for the first time at university, discovering a computer lab, an encounter he describes as pivotal. After high school in 2004, while studying mechanical engineering at the College of Engineering in Pune, he became involved in extracurricular activities, including conducting interviews with entrepreneurs for the school magazine. This experience encouraged him to reach out to N.R. Narayana Murthy and philanthropist Sudha Murty. He borrowed money to travel to Bengaluru to meet Murty. Impressed by the group's persistence, Sudha Murty arranged a meeting with Narayana Murthy, who sent a personal message to the students to encourage them in their work.
