Thanks to its app store, it is now possible to connect ChatGPT to various third-party services, thereby expanding its functionalities. Among these new applications, BlaBlaCar makes its debut, allowing users to access its services directly from ChatGPT.

To take advantage of this new feature, users simply need to go to ChatGPT, access the "Apps" section, search for BlaBlaCar, and connect the service. Once this step is completed, users can explore BlaBlaCar's catalog without leaving the ChatGPT interface, using natural language. For example, it is possible to ask the AI to find a means of transport between Paris and Lyon, specifying preferences. Once the ideal journey is identified, the booking can be made directly on BlaBlaCar.

A Strategy to Attract a New Generation

As generative AI gains popularity, BlaBlaCar is looking to position itself where users are spending more and more time. "We are seeing a new generation starting to switch to ChatGPT to ask the questions they used to ask Google," explains Benjamin Retourné, product director at BlaBlaCar.

The integration with ChatGPT is just a first step. Nicolas Salvy, technical director of BlaBlaCar, emphasizes that the company has been investing in AI for several years. A future innovation could be the introduction of an AI-based assistant designed to act as a digital "concierge," answering users' questions about the app. This feature is currently in development and could be launched by the end of this year or next year.

By integrating into ChatGPT's app store, BlaBlaCar hopes to capture the attention of young users and adapt to new trends in digital consumption.
