Figure AI Multiplies Its Production of Humanoid Robots by Eight
Figure AI, once known for producing one robot per day, has recently announced a dramatic increase in its production rate, now reaching 55 humanoid robots per week. This production milestone is an achievement that few players in the robotics field manage to reach, marking a significant scaling change for the company.
An Optimized Factory for Rapid Production
This ramp-up relies on the BotQ production site, which has become the nerve center of Figure AI. The factory is equipped with over 150 connected workstations, each managed by internally developed software. The goal is to produce quickly while maintaining high quality. The manufacturing process includes over 50 checkpoints, ensuring the rigor of the process.
Transitioning from a prototype to an operational fleet presents a real puzzle in robotics, but Figure AI has successfully met this challenge. Each robot undergoes more than 80 functional tests before being validated, including exercises such as squats, jogging, and repetitive movements. These tests aim to simulate real-world conditions from the production phase. Thanks to this approach, the yield reaches over 80% from the first production run, and the batteries show a success rate of 99.3%. To date, more than 9,000 actuators have been produced.
A Technological Advancement Driven by AI
The increase in production at Figure AI is not just about filling warehouses. Each robot becomes a valuable source of data for Helix, the AI developed by the company. With the expansion of the fleet, the AI learns faster, making the robots increasingly autonomous.
Figure AI's robots are equipped with onboard cameras that allow them to reconstruct a 3D vision of their environment. This technology enables them to anticipate their movements, such as climbing stairs or navigating uneven terrain, without requiring specific adjustments in real-world conditions. One of the new capabilities of the robots is full-body control guided by perception, which enhances their interaction with the environment.
At the same time, Figure AI has established a comprehensive infrastructure for real-time diagnostics, on-site maintenance, and remote updates, allowing the entire fleet to evolve simultaneously. Breakdowns are analyzed within minutes, and solutions are deployed on a large scale, positioning Figure AI in direct competition with giants like Tesla Optimus and Boston Dynamics.
