Memvid Offers an Unusual Job Opportunity
The startup Memvid has launched an intriguing job offer, promising to pay $800 for a day dedicated to interacting with AI chatbots. The position, titled Professional AI Bully, invites candidates to express their frustrations with the limitations of artificial intelligence. This initiative aims to promote the memory tool developed by the startup, as explained by its CEO, Mohamed Omar.
A Day of Intensive Testing
Selected candidates will spend a full day, or 8 hours, interacting with various leading AI chatbots. Their mission will be to test the memory of these systems by asking repeated questions and observing their lapses. The position pays $100 per hour, totaling $800 for the day. Interactions must be documented accurately, and candidates are expected to demonstrate brutal honesty regarding the frustrations encountered.
An Accessible Position for All
No technical expertise is required to apply. Selection criteria include a minimum age of 18 years and a “broad personal experience of technological disappointments.” Candidates must also be comfortable in front of the camera, as their sessions will be recorded for use in promotional videos. The online application form asks applicants to describe their most frustrating experience with an AI chatbot and to justify why they should be chosen for this role. Additionally, it is essential that candidates have the patience to ask the same question multiple times to the chatbots.
An AI Memory Challenge
Mohamed Omar, co-founder and CEO of Memvid, explained that the company was motivated by the shortcomings of available AI memory solutions in 2024. These systems, often unreliable, lost context and fell into hallucination errors, a particularly concerning issue in the healthcare sector where sensitive data is at stake. Omar emphasized that memory is crucial for AI, calling it the Holy Grail, which led Memvid to develop its own solutions to overcome these challenges.
An Awareness Campaign
This job offer is part of a broader campaign aimed at raising public awareness about AI memory issues and promoting Memvid's products. The company plans to start by recruiting one person for this position but is considering expanding the team if necessary to increase the campaign's reach. Although there is no deadline for applications, Omar hopes to select a candidate within the next one to two weeks. He mentioned that a recent graduate applied, explaining that he spends nearly $300 a month on his AI subscriptions, highlighting memory issues encountered across all platforms used. “Many of the applicants are knowledge workers using these products,” Omar concluded.
