The goal of this initiative is to alleviate a U.S. healthcare system under extraordinary pressure. Although this version is currently limited to the U.S. market, OpenAI plans pilot programs in other countries, depending on local regulations.

ChatGPT for Clinicians is designed to help healthcare professionals improve the quality of care. Compared to the standard version of ChatGPT, this medical version offers free access to OpenAI's advanced models, enabling responses to complex medical questions. The chatbot is also capable of automating document writing, such as patient instructions, and relies on more reliable sources to provide accurate answers.

OpenAI is committed to continuously improving the quality of responses provided by ChatGPT in the healthcare field, thanks to evaluations conducted by physicians. To date, over 700,000 responses have been scrutinized. In the United States, a survey reveals that 72% of doctors are already using AI, a figure that was 48% in 2025. So far, no date has been announced for the launch of ChatGPT for Clinicians in France. This product could compete with other similar AI-based services already offered by startups. It is important to note that ChatGPT for Clinicians is not intended to replace doctors but to assist them. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has already stated that despite the impact of AI on certain jobs, the role of a doctor is not among the threatened professions.
