ChatGPT Integrates Directly into PowerPoint

OpenAI recently announced the launch of ChatGPT for PowerPoint, now available in global beta. This new tool appears as an integrated sidebar directly within the PowerPoint interface, accessible from the PowerPoint ribbon. With this integration, users can interact with their presentations using natural language, without leaving the familiar Microsoft environment.

The add-in offers two main features:

• Creation and Editing: Users can generate complete presentations from simple briefs, notes, documents, spreadsheets, or even images. It is also possible to modify existing files, rewrite titles, simplify overly complex slides, or add new sections. Each modification remains editable in PowerPoint, allowing for total flexibility.

• Structure Analysis: ChatGPT can review a document to identify structural weaknesses, missing elements, or potential questions that an executive committee might raise. Additionally, the add-in can connect to other applications already linked to the user's ChatGPT account, such as Gmail, Outlook, or SharePoint, facilitating the integration of available data within the work environment.

Accessing ChatGPT in PowerPoint

To install ChatGPT in PowerPoint, users must go to the Microsoft marketplace or directly within PowerPoint via the Home > Add-ins menu and search for "ChatGPT." A connection with the OpenAI account corresponding to the subscription plan is required. Conversations conducted in this add-in are separate from the usual ChatGPT history and do not benefit from memory.

OpenAI specifies that certain advanced features of PowerPoint are not yet supported. This includes:

• Native editing of graphics
• Management of complex fonts and templates
• Animations

Since the tool is still in beta, results may be partially complete. Therefore, it is advisable to carefully review presentations before sharing them.

Availability and Access of ChatGPT for PowerPoint

ChatGPT for PowerPoint is currently in global beta for the following plans:

• ChatGPT Free, Go, Pro, and Plus
• ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, Edu, Teachers, and K-12

It is important to note that the add-in is also available for Excel, which exited its beta phase in early May 2026. Both tools can be used from the same sidebar.

ChatGPT Expands Its Influence in Office Tools

With PowerPoint, ChatGPT becomes the third major office tool to integrate AI natively. Following Excel and Google Sheets, which recently reached general availability, OpenAI continues to deploy its strategy to integrate AI directly where documents are created.

However, ChatGPT is not alone in this market. Its main competitors, such as Microsoft Copilot, are already present in PowerPoint, and Claude also offers an add-in for this software. OpenAI is banking on its ability to connect to tools already linked to the ChatGPT account to differentiate itself and strengthen its position against rivals.
