A Redesigned Interface for ChatGPT's Scheduled Tasks
OpenAI has recently introduced a new interface for ChatGPT, dedicated to managing scheduled tasks. This update aims to make these tasks easier to find and manage on a daily basis. Until now, users faced difficulties locating their tasks, akin to searching for a missing sock after doing laundry. With this new page, OpenAI hopes to improve accessibility without altering the core functionality.
A Centralized Dashboard for Simplified Management
Previously, scheduled tasks were created directly within conversations, which posed a problem when it came to retrieving an automation created several weeks earlier. OpenAI has therefore introduced a page called "Scheduled," accessible via the sidebar on the web and mobile app. This page consolidates all scheduled tasks in one place.
Thanks to this interface, users can now:
- Create new tasks
- View the next execution of a task
- Modify, suspend, or delete existing tasks
Thus, there is no longer a need to sift through old discussions to find a forgotten reminder. Additionally, the task creation process has been enhanced with command examples available from the outset. Users can simply write a request in a conversation, such as asking ChatGPT to notify them about a package delivery.
The scheduling of tasks has also become more flexible. Users can choose to schedule a task in the morning, afternoon, or evening, without having to specify an exact time.
Improvements with Limitations
While this update simplifies the management of scheduled tasks, it does not transform ChatGPT into an all-powerful assistant. The number of active tasks remains limited by the type of subscription. Go plan subscribers can maintain up to three tasks simultaneously, while Plus users can manage five. For Business, Education, Pro, and Enterprise plans, OpenAI allows up to fifteen active tasks.
Certain restrictions still persist. Voice discussions and custom GPTs are still not compatible with this feature. However, notifications have been improved. Once permissions are granted on mobile or browser, reminders can be received on all platforms where the account is connected. Users can choose to receive push notifications, emails, or both.
Pulse: The New Control Center for Automations
This reorganization is not limited to classic reminders. OpenAI has integrated ChatGPT's scheduled tasks into Pulse, a space that centralizes automations created by the user. ChatGPT can perform regular checks, search for developments on a specific topic, and notify only when a significant change occurs.
In practical terms, it is now possible to ask the AI to monitor information or an event, thus avoiding the need to restart the same search every day. Results are presented in the form of visual summaries that the user can consult or delve deeper into.
In summary, this new interface does not revolutionize ChatGPT's capabilities, but it addresses a practical problem: facilitating the location and management of automations created by the user.
