The majority of ChatGPT users take advantage of the free version of the service. However, for those with more specific needs, OpenAI offers paid subscriptions. Among these options, ChatGPT Go is the most affordable, while ChatGPT Plus is priced at €23. For heavy users, OpenAI recently introduced a new version of ChatGPT Pro at a reduced rate of €103, down from €229.
This pricing revision aims to better meet the needs of professionals, particularly those using Codex, OpenAI's coding tool. The new ChatGPT Pro subscription allows for five times the usage of Codex compared to ChatGPT Plus. Additionally, subscribers benefit from exclusive access to "Pro" AI models, such as GPT-5.4 Pro, as well as "Instant" and "Thinking" models without limitations.
Among other advantages, the ChatGPT site mentions unlimited image generations, maximum access to in-depth research and agent mode, as well as early access to new features.
OpenAI appears to be looking to directly compete with Anthropic's Claude subscription, which has seen great success among professionals. In the United States, the price of ChatGPT Pro is aligned with that of Claude Max, at $100, allowing for intensive use of their respective tools.
Anthropic's strategy, which primarily targets businesses and professionals, has proven financially effective, as professionals are more inclined to pay for more powerful services. OpenAI seems to be drawing inspiration from this approach.
This week, OpenAI announced that its annualized revenue has reached $30 billion, a significant increase from $9 billion at the end of 2025. It is possible that Anthropic is already generating higher revenues than OpenAI, as at the end of March, OpenAI reported monthly revenues of $2 billion, which would equate to $24 billion annually.
