Integration of Claude Code and Figma: A Major Advancement
The collaboration between Claude Code and Figma takes a significant step forward with the introduction of bidirectional communication. This feature allows users to publish a design from Claude to Figma, modify it in Figma, and then reflect those changes back in the coded version of the design.
Four-Step Connection Process
To take advantage of this new capability, it is crucial to follow a four-step process to connect Claude Code to Figma and thus optimize the design workflow.
Step 1: Initial Setup
The first step is to set up Figma MCP in Claude Code. MCP, or Multi-Contextual Platform, is a universal interface designed to enable AI models to read files, execute functions, and manage contextual operations with third-party services. In this case, Claude Code will use MCP to access Figma.
To get started, open a terminal on your Mac or PC and enter the following command to launch Claude Code:
claude
Next, configure the MCP connection. This involves using a remote MCP server connection that directly connects to the hosted endpoint of Figma. To do this, enter the following command:
claude mcp add --transport http figma
