Claude Code: Weekly Limits Raised by 25% on September 14

Anthropic will implement a permanent 25% increase in weekly caps for Claude Code starting September 14, 2026, replacing a 50% bonus that will end the day before. The company states that this change represents a 17% decrease compared to the current level in effect and is working on developing consumption tracking tools. This shift comes after tensions in the spring and an agreement with SpaceX granting access to the Colossus 1 datacenter in Memphis, valued at $1.25 billion per month.
Anthropic signs with SpaceX after reports of caps being reached
In the spring, many users reported reaching their caps by mid-morning or experiencing slowdowns during peak hours. In May, Anthropic signed an agreement with SpaceX to access the Colossus 1 datacenter in Memphis, which has approximately 300 megawatts and 220,000 Nvidia GPUs. According to Les Échos, the value of this contract amounts to $1.25 billion monthly. With this additional capacity, the quotas for five-hour sessions on Claude Code have been doubled, and restrictions during peak hours have been lifted for Pro and Max subscribers. However, the weekly limits remained unchanged. Additionally, agentic uses, which consume more tokens than conversational exchanges, increase the pressure on computing resources.

End of the 50% bonus and new permanent tier
Since May 13, a temporary 50% bonus has been applied to weekly caps, which was extended several times over the summer. This bonus will end on September 13. Starting September 14, 2026, Anthropic will implement a permanent 25% increase in the standard weekly limits for Claude Code. This measure affects Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscriptions. The company specifies that this change results in a 17% reduction in limits compared to the current level associated with the bonus.
Consumption tracking and paid usage credits
Anthropic indicates it is working on developments to provide more visibility and control over consumption, without specifying a timeline. Affected subscribers can already extend their sessions beyond the included package through paid usage credits, billed according to a rate similar to that of the API. The announcement on August 29 was made on X.
