Claude Cowork adds an integrated browser on desktop

Anthropic integrates a browser directly into Claude Cowork on desktop, triggered when the assistant needs to consult a website. The tool operates in a sidebar and remains separate from the user's browser. The rollout is announced for this week for paid and Enterprise offerings, with caution advised regarding prompt injections.
Deployment This Week and Usage Recommendations
The new browser will be offered this week to Pro, Max, and Team subscribers, as well as to Enterprise clients. Anthropic also warns of the risks of prompt injection and recommends limiting usage to reputable sites.

An Integrated Browser, Contextually Triggered and Isolated from Yours
When a task requires web access, a browser opens in the sidebar of Claude Cowork. Claude can then load and read pages, click, type, fill out forms, and extract figures from dashboards, including on portals without APIs. This environment remains distinct from the personal browser: the assistant does not have access to tabs, bookmarks, or passwords.
Controlled Credential Transfer and Use of the Extension
It is possible to transfer credentials, page by page, from Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. Banking and messaging sites are excluded from this mechanism. For pages already open with an active session, the Chrome extension remains the preferred option.
