Claude Cowork Opens Up to All Paid Subscribers

On April 9, 2026, Anthropic announced that Claude Cowork is now accessible to all of its paid plans, including Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise. This general availability marks the end of its research preview phase. Initially launched in January for Max subscribers, Cowork has gradually integrated features such as a plugin marketplace and business connectors. It also allows mobile control via Dispatch. This platform is available on macOS and Windows.

Claude Cowork is a derivative of Claude Code, specifically designed for non-technical users. It offers the ability to delegate tasks and complete workflows to Claude via a desktop application. Among the features offered are file sorting and renaming, document creation from notes, cross-referencing between multiple sources, and data analysis. Claude accesses authorized folders and uses connectors and plugins to execute these operations autonomously.

According to Anthropic, the vast majority of Cowork usage comes from non-technical teams. Functions such as operations, marketing, finance, or legal do not entrust their core business to AI, but rather the work surrounding their most critical tasks, such as project updates, collaborative presentations, and research sprints.

Governance Features for Controlled Deployment

To facilitate the deployment of Cowork at the enterprise level, Anthropic has introduced six governance controls:

  • Role-based access control: Administrators can organize users into groups and define the capabilities accessible to each.
  • Spending limits by team: Configurable budgets by group can be adjusted via the administration console.
  • Usage analytics: Cowork activity is tracked in the administrator dashboard and the Analytics API, allowing for monitoring by user, skill, and connector.
  • Extended OpenTelemetry: This feature, reserved for Team and Enterprise plans, creates events for tool calls, files read or modified, and actions approved either manually or automatically. It is compatible with SIEM pipelines such as Splunk and Cribl.
  • Granular connector control: Available actions by connector can be restricted at the organizational level, for example, allowing read access while blocking write access.
  • Zoom MCP Connector: Zoom is simultaneously launching a connector that integrates meeting summaries, transcripts, and actions into Cowork workflows, thereby enriching the range of accessible tools.

Support for Businesses

To assist businesses in adopting Claude Cowork, Anthropic is hosting a webinar on Thursday, April 16, at 7 PM French time. This webinar aims to share best practices, tips, and use cases for a smoother deployment.

This initiative by Anthropic comes as competition intensifies in the market for AI solutions for businesses. OpenAI has recently refocused its efforts on this segment, abandoning several ancillary projects to better compete with Anthropic's rise.
